SAN DIEGO — Kobe Bryant’s shocking and unexpected death flooded the news, social media and our hearts. News of tragedy and the death of a celebrity can be difficult, but do you know how to cope with the grief that follows?
Therapist, Lindsay Kramer, from Sharp Mesa Vista dropped by to talk about the process of grief and how you can cope with celebrity deaths.
Kramer says the most important thing anyone can do when dealing with grief is to not stifle your feelings. You need to acknowledge the feelings that are there and understand it is perfectly normal, even human to have feelings of grief.
Going through grief is often described as riding a wave. You may have worked through your feelings, but your friend may still be in the middle of their grieving process. Kramer says the best way to help someone who is still grieving is to be there and support them.
