Gordon Ramsay donated $50,000 for Ben Watkins’ cancer treatment before young cooking star’s death: report

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay reportedly donated $50,000 to support cancer treatment for Ben Watkins, a promising young cooking star on “MasterChef Junior” who died at age 14 this week.

Ramsay offered the financial support to assist Ben with his treatment in August, Variety reported Friday.

Ben’s father killed himself and the boy’s mother in 2017. A year later, he appeared on “MasterChef Junior,” becoming a fan favorite on the program.

Ben’s death on Monday came after a year-and-a-half battle with a rare soft tissue cancer, according to a statement from his family published on GoFundMe.

Ramsay, the curmudgeonly British host of “MasterChef Junior,” wrote in a tweet on Tuesday that the show had lost a master of its kitchen and said he was sending “all the love to Ben Watkins’ family.”

“Ben you were an incredibly talented home cook and even stronger young man,” Ramsay, 54, tweeted. “Your young life had so many tough turns but you always persevered.”
