Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers reveals he’s set to guest host episodes of Jeopardy! following Alex Trebek’s death

It was reported last week that Katie Couric is set to be a guest host on Jeopardy! following the death of Alex Trebek.

And on Tuesday, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers revealed he, too, has been invited to take a turn guest hosting the long-running quiz show.

‘I’m really excited about it. We’ve been talking about it for a little bit,’ the NFL pro said during his team’s media availability.

Rodgers first mentioned the hosting gig during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

He told reporters Tuesday afternoon that he ‘may have jumped the gun a little bit’ and apologized to Jeopardy! for breaking the news prematurely.

‘It just went down the last couple of days, us figuring it out,’ he explained.

‘It is very exciting. It’s for the offseason. We’ll be even more excited when that opportunity gets a little closer.’

A representative from Jeopardy! has declined to comment and said no announcement has been made about future guest hosts, according to ESPN

Rodgers previously appeared as a contestant on Jeopardy! on a celebrity episode back in 2015.

He described that opportunity as ‘a dream come true’ and added: ‘To get to meet Alex was just such a special moment and we’re all obviously sad about his passing.’

Trebek, the show’s long-time host, died of pancreatic cancer at age 80 on November 8.

On Monday, Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings hosted the first episode since Trebek’s death.

‘It’s unimaginable, like I can’t even believe today that I’m filling in,’ he said. ‘It goes beyond nerves, it was a very nerve-racking and intense experience to be behind this lectern.’

Jennings, from Washington state, won 74 games in a row to capture the show’s record for longest winning streak.
