Lily Brant has penned a heartfelt tribute to her brother Harry Brant after he died aged 24.
Harry – the son of supermodel Stephanie Seymour and businessman Peter Brant – is believed to have suffered an accidental overdose from prescription drugs on Sunday, according to the family’s statement to the New York Times.
And Lily shared her sorrow with a lengthy Instagram post shared on Monday in which she opened up on her relationship with her model brother who she called “amazing” with “the most beautiful and sensitive soul.”
Alongside a throwback snap of her and Harry from their childhood, the grieving 16-year-old typed: “my amazing big brother and my best friend, words cannot describe how much i will miss you. you were the most amazing brother to me and you stuck with me through everything.”
She continued: “You had the most beautiful and sensitive soul and a sense of humor that could brighten anyone’s day. thank you for always making me smile. you taught me how to have empathy for everyone around me and you showed me what it feels like to be understood and cared about.
“You lit up my world and my heart is full of love for you. a piece of you will remain with me forever. i love you indefinitely harry. you are an angel and you will always be a beautiful person inside and out. rest in peace.”
Lily ended the message with a quote by American novelist Ernest Hemingway by typing: “The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and very brave impartially. – Hemingway”
On Monday Harry’s family released a statement about his tragic passing.
It read: “‘We will forever be saddened that his life was cut short by this devastating disease.
“He achieved a lot in his 24 years, but we will never get the chance to see how much more Harry could have done.
“Harry was not just our son. He was also a wonderful brother, loving grandson, favourite uncle and a caring friend.
“He was a creative, loving and powerful soul that brought light into so many people’s hearts. He was truly a beautiful person inside and out.”
Harry is survived by both is parents as well as his brother Peter, 27, and sister Lily.
He also has an elder half-brother from his mother Stephanie’s previous marriage to musician Tommy Andrews as well as four half-siblings from Peter’s previous marriage.
He was born in 1996 and brought up in the glare of the spotlight, with his dad a billionaire businessman, publisher and art dealer and his mum one of the original supermodels.
He was a regular on the celebrity party circuit from a young age, attending the fabled Met Gala at the age of 16.
Harry and his elder brother Peter were even labelled New York’s “most beautiful teenage brothers” by New York Magazine.
During his teenage years, he explored journalism, writing a column for Interview magazine, which is one of his dad’s titles.
He also ventured into modelling, working for designers such as Balmain and appearing in Italian Vogue while he even founded a uni-sex make-up line for Mac alongside his brother.
According to the New York Times, Harry had been days away from checking into a rehab facility at the time of his death.
His parents had reportedly been hoping he would be able to kick his addictions and then return to Interview magazine to continue his career in publishing.
